This spectacular 45 million year old Basilosaurus tooth was recovered in a newly discovered Eocene age site in a coastal area of the Western Sahara.This site is approximatly 100 miles from the Mauritania border on the Moroccan side These teeth are very similar to the Archaeocete teeth found in North America but much rarer and identical to the Teeth found in Egypt in the location known as 'The Valley of the Whales' This specimen has some minor restore work to the tips ,the work is better than museum quality and is common for these teeth. Spectacular Xiphactinus Audax Jaw with vertebrae and skull fragments in the original matrix.
It is a huge example from a huge predatory fish measuring 11.75 inches long and over 4 inches tall.Largest tooth measures 2 inches.All the teeth are original except for the very front tooth which I placed,all the others are exactly as found.There has been no restoration and the jaw is as found.the detail of this Xiphactinus jaw is outstanding truely World class.It is from the Nibrara chalk formation Smoky Hill Chalk member,Kansas,USA,Lower Santonian 86Million years old.He was living at the time of the Dinosaurs.This was a giant predatory boney fish an was about 18 to 20 feet long a giant.Commonly called the Bulldog fish.
